Yesterday was spent transporting food via
ground. With bridges down, flooded roads, gushing river
beds, plains that have become islands, this is what had
to be done to get the food to Gonaives. Joe of C3
Missions describes the endeavor:
"Here's what they've organized to get food trucks to
Gonaives. Step 1: load truck
at Mission of Hope near PAP. Step 2: drive it about an
hour to a town
where the bridge is washed out, and stop. Step 3:
organize a "box brigade"
of workers who move the boxes across the river into
Vehicle # 2, an empty
bus on the other side. Step 4: drive bus to area near
Gonaive where
there's a large lake blocking the way. Step 5: drive
off the road and
around the perimeter of the lake to an area where the
lake is crossable by
foot. Step 5: mobilize another "box brigade" and
transfer the food from
the bus to Vehicle # 3, a truck on the other side. Step
6: drive the truck
into the children's village. Step 7: distribute the
food."
The many pastors left homeless and with nothing are on ESMI's
mind. But even though their despair is evident, we want
to share with you that there was still joy on their
faces. As embarassing as it is to have to borrow
personal items such as underwear, these men still had
the joy of the Lord. Why? Because they know the
suffering that they are experiencing now is only
temporary. This place is not their Home.
Meanwhile, in the south, all bridges and roads have been
cut with flood waters. Food supply and gas is trickling
to a low. Louis will meet a food container with a boat,
load the boat, unload onto a truck in Les Cayes, and
then distribute the food.
We continue to be thankful for the networking that is
going on among the different ministries and within
churches. There is a medical team of 5 who will arrive
in Haiti on Friday. The children of Gonaives are on
their minds and hearts.
Praises:
1. Thank the Lord for C3 Missions, Mission of Hope, and
Cross International who organized and donated the food
for both Gonaives and the south.
2. Finally getting the food into Gonaives and being
able to store it at the UN for distribution today
Prayer Requests:
1. Need a truck and a boat to help with food
distribution. Rental of vehicles are becoming costly
2. Spiritual and physical strength for the team in Haiti
Below are photos Dony took. Thank you once again for
your financial support. This is what your funds are
being used to do at this time. More funds are needed to
get the food to the people.

Memo: Haiti Flood Relief
Sunday night, the team met hundreds of people walking in the
dark with no where to go. They were walking from Gonaives
trying to find food and water. The next city was 5 miles away.
They were so thirsty and hungry when the team met them. Praise
the Lord because of your support, those people were fed that
night.
This Christian woman describes the
food received that night as manna. She cried as she explained
how she hadn't eaten for four days. She is separated from her
husband and children. She doesn't know where they are but
believes they are alive.
Please note the mud on her hand as
she rubs her stomach explaining the unbelievable pain of
hunger. The food supplied is under her arm.
Even this witch doctor was blessed
by the food provided. The Gopsel was shared with him and his
response was, "I know that in the dark o f the night you are
here because you must be from the 'good' side." He asked that
his photo be taken to express his gratitude. Thank you for
making this possible.
