Thank you for your ongoing prayers and financial support. Yesterday was spent with church leaders praying and planning. The Pastoral League in Jeremie has not 341 pastors but 378 with an additional 500 leaders in their association. Food supplies are still not reaching many of their communities.
Some food convoys are being ambushed by desperate people in cities along the road to Jeremie. They see the trucks passing by and no one stopping to assist them. ESMI leadership took this opportunity to have the first planning meeting with key church leaders and with the NGOs serving in Jeremie. It was a good meeting and will continue tomorrow to finalize distribution strategy.
Later today, the ESMI leadership will meet with the mayor and assistant mayor of Jeremie. The hope is to include them in distribution of food to their city and then they in turn can assist the relief teams in getting to the villages without being ambushed.
Today, ESMI purchased 10 motorcycles to begin taking food supplies to the areas the pastors mentioned. Food was sent to the following villages: Duchity, Deron, Finderon, Mafrand, Bonbon, Carrefour Carton. Team would have continued distribution but then at about 4:00pm, it began raining! Not good news with so many without shelter. Here are photos of today’s distribution:
Tomorrow, ESMI will have the second planning meeting with the NGOs and key leaders to map out the Grand-Anse Department/State (Jeremie and the surrounding villages and cities) and coordinate our food distribution efforts.
Welcoming Medical & Construction Teams
Yesterday, Roger Braswell, co-founder of Give Hope Global, and an ESMI board member, arrived in Les Cayes. He and two of his board members visited the different Children Villages with Louis to assess the damages. Tomorrow, they will welcome a medical team of 17 people to serve the communities in the South. Yesterday also the GO Ministries team of four were held at the Dominican Republic/Haiti border. They are carrying lots of medicines such as cholera kits, IV’s, etc. for the children and caregivers of the 8 sites. We praise the Lord for Louis’ position in the political arena. The team should now be driving to Les Cayes. Continue to pray for their travels.
Today a team of 7 from Christ Fellowship Church landed in PAP. Four are now in Jeremie loving on the Lundi children but 3 remained in PAP due to the rain and the cancellation of their flight to Jeremie.
-People would somehow find shelter from the rain
-Wisdom at tomorrow’s second planning meeting
-Continued safety in the food distribution.
-Good health both physically and spiritually for everyone serving
-Boldness in sharing of the Gospel at food distribution sites and for many to come to know Christ in the midst of this crisis
Friends, thank you for making all of the above possible. Because of your contribution, you empowered us to serve on your behalf. Construction has begun and will send photos of that soon.
