I awake this morning more restless than usual as cholera is now on the rise. While the ESMI Cambry and Jeremie HQs served as safe structures against Matthew, it may not against cholera. Too many people with limited toilet facilities. ESMI must therefore act quickly to prepare temporary housing for the children’s old until we can rebuild stronger structures. The children need clean environment, clean water, clean food, toilet facilities, etc. to keep them safe. Pray with us that we can move quickly and make all the needed preparation. Purchases of tools and cleaning supplies must be done.
Today, my brother, Louis will make plans to get two of the children villages in the south ready. He will be using huge tents that were donated. On the Jeremie HQ campus, by faith, we are building added toilet facilities and must begin clean up at the Lundi Village. The goal is to prepare 5 homes within the next week or two. At the Emmanuel Village, the children are staying on the first floor. We will begin covering the second floor.
For our community, whatever wood and aluminium roofing can be salvaged, will be given away. People will gladly use these to do what they can.
Lord’s willing, on Thursday, I will meet with the Pastoral League, about 341 church leaders, to pray and prepare. ESMI will also give them food to distribute to their communities. This is a means to empower our Haitian pastors to serve their congregation and cities. Last week, ESMI was able to provide $25K worth of food also to the leaders of MEBSH (Members of the Baptist Churches of Southern Haiti). We praise God for this opportunity to come along side these men and empower them as they serve. Thank you for making all of this possible because of your donations.
You can donate online: DONATE NOW https://www.esmihome.org/donate/sponsor-a-project/disaster-relief/ or send a check to: ESMI, c/o The Keyes Company, 2121 SW 3rd Avenue, Suite 601, Miami, FL 33129.
Here are photos taken last night as the Haitian team prepared 3,500 food kits and gave them all away at the Versailles Church in downtown Jeremie.
But time is of the essence with the cholera outbreak. Continue to pray with us. Pray Psalm 34 with me throughout your day.
“The poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” Ps. 34:6-8
